My place of work is surrounded by an oil palm plantation. And with this in mind, there a quite a few animals hanging about usually from the plantation, looking for food among other things.
The main thing that does not go in their favour is that there is super busy main road right next to the plantation. There have been quite a few accidents involving these animals.
Today, I saw a 4wd knock into 3 cows, and one cow was left lying on the road, as its legs were hurt badly. They dashed across the super busy main road, and the driver did not have the chance to even stop. I think he/she tried, but it was a little too late.
A few weeks ago, I saw a monkey sitting on the road in shock, with its head bleeding profusely. And a dog a few weeks before that. I am sure I haven't seen many more incidents which occurred, but it's really sad to see that happen every other time.
Of the cows, if only the cowherds were a little more responsible in letting them graze in a safer area, the accident would not have occurred. I was thankful that the driver wasn't hurt at least, although he/she did pull over to look at the 4wd.
